Hi,
The game was produced Dec 15, 1998.
Platform: Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 95.
If the Windows Compatibility mode does not work, there is no other way to get it to run.
If you are using Windows 7 Home Premium, you may try using VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware Player (www.vmware.com) and install a separate copy of Windows XP (either Home Edition or Professional) for that purpose.

I heard that there is ways to 'trick' the computer into running the game by dropping files into the 'SysWOW64' folder. Do you know what this would entail?
This was done for another vintage game I own called Ultimate Yahtzee. You can see the instructions here:
http://www.amazon.com/review/R39MM7EPNRREI6/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00002STLL&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=
I have followed the instructions and the game Ultimate Yahtzee works perfectly. So, I was wondering if you or anyone else knows of any tricks like this to get the game Clue: Murder at Boddy Mansion up and running.

Hi,
You may try to follow similar instructions that were listed to get Clue to work or you need to use VirtualBox or VMware Player as suggested before.

Hi,

All right, how would I set this up using VMware? And if I did, would I be able to utilize my current graphics cards in order to run this game at its highest graphical settings?
And do you know how I could get the game running using the 'Drop dlls into my sysWOW64 folder'? If so could you post instructions?
Also, I was in my basement and found an old copy of Windows 2000. If I were to install Windows 2000 and dual boot, would I be able to utilize my current sound and graphics cards? I would like to try to play this game at its highest graphical settings.
Thank you for your replies.

Why does the Raspberry Pi need a MPEG-2 licence? Up vote 39 down vote favorite. Since August 24 2012. The license is a key associated with the serial number of the RPi. Hope this clears the doubt. More information available at Rpi site under Codec license. Share| improve this answer. Home > Products > MPEG-2 Licence Key This key will enable a single Raspberry Pi to decode MPEG-2 video in hardware. You will need to provide your device's internal 16-digit serial. An MPEG-2 (~$4)and/or VC-1 license(~$2) purchased from the Raspberry Pi store. Access to the command prompt on the Raspberry Pi (either at the physical device or via SSH). First, we will walk you through getting the serial number off the board and purchasing the licenses you need. This key will enable a single Raspberry Pi to decode MPEG-2 video in hardware. You will need to provide your device's internal 16-digit serial number as part of your order. Your serial number is not the number printed on your board. Mpeg-2 license key.

GRRR. See this is what I hate about forums. Anybody who knows the answer to the questions either
1. Doesn't go on forums.
2. Doesn't stick with the question until it is answered.
3. Doesn't look for the question.
I wish I could get this question answered, but it doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon.

I got this game running on Windows 7 x64, but unfortunately I can't remember the exact steps.
I do remember that I had to turn off the hardware acceleration of the graphics card. Depending on what graphics card and drivers you have, if you right click on the desktop and choose 'Screen Resolution' there is then an option for Advanced Settings. In there is a Troubleshoot tab and this has a slider for reducing hardware acceleration. I put mine to the lowest setting. Although you are turning down the settings, as this game is so old it still plays at its full resolution and quality. For me it ran in the centre of the screen with a large black border as I think its fixed to 640x480.
This might help you as you say you can hear the game start up but can't see anything, which could suggest graphics problems.

Wow. Thanks for the reply. I haven't tried anything with the game since I upgraded to Windows 8 (yeah, I know..now it's going to be even harder), but I'll try anyways. I'll let you know how it goes. And if you got any Windows 8 tips for getting this game to run, that'd be great too. Still same computer though (X64 bit with Intel i7 quad core).

Win7 32bit worked for me..
Rename the video folder in the installation directory.
Example: the 32 bit version - C:Program FilesHasbro InteractiveClueDataClassicVideo
rename Video to VideoOLD for example. The videos won't play but the game runs fine.
*Also I did Compatibility mode - Windows 95 on Clue executable, seems to work well for the flickering.
* I installed DirectX5.exe and DXMWrap.exe in Compatibility mode - Windows XP SP3. Installed no errors
Good Luck.

This game is probably one of the rare games that prove transformations of board games to PC can be very successful (such as History of the World, another great adaptation) . If you ever played Clue then you know what is this game about, but for those who haven't here it is - you are one of the six characters that are in the room of the owner Mr. Buddy, and a murder occurred. You have to go from room to room and discover clues that will show who is the killer and what kind of weapon was used to commit that murder. The good thing about this PC version of the game is that you can now see in front of you some things that you only imagined in your head, like how the murder was committed, in very realistic animations. These animations are different for each weapon and each character. The problem might be that you don't have anywhere written which suggestions were made and which weren't, but that can easily be resolved with some pen and paper. Another good thing is that the game is easy to play, there are no complicated features or buttons, the game is pretty straightforward. The visuals are really great and the soundtrack only emphasizes the dark and suspicious mood that is in the room. I think that this game can be even more than the actual board game, if that is even possible! Enjoy in this brain cracking detective game and invite some friends over for more fun.
